Sully vs Microsoft Copilot: which is best?

Sully is the Microsoft Copilot alternative for site walks: Copilot can’t index your walkthrough videos and reads one recording’s transcript at a time; Sully reads the walk and lands the cited draft in Teams and OneDrive anyway.

What is Sully?

Sully is the AI scribe for site walks. Walk the site as you always do, shooting video or photos and talking as you go. Sully reads the footage with what you said and hands back a summary with action items, every line cited to its frame.

You turn the draft into the report, schedule or quote, and you sign it. It lands in Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Gmail or Google Drive. Made by Hey Sully in Australia; in early access now.

What is Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft 365 Copilot is the assistant inside Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint, grounded in your tenant’s documents. Most firms we talk to already pay for it, so “can’t we just use Copilot?” deserves a precise answer.

  1. 1Microsoft Copilot: No capture of its own; site videos sit in OneDrive or SharePoint as files.
  2. 2Microsoft Copilot: It is the tools you already use.
  3. 3Microsoft Copilot: Microsoft’s own doc: the Copilot semantic index is “generated from text-based SharePoint Online files”: Word, PowerPoint, PDF, OneNote, mail, with no video or audio row (reviewed 23 April 2026). Copilot in the Clipchamp player reads the transcript of the one video you have open.
  4. 4Microsoft Copilot: Cites documents, and transcript timestamps in the video player, not a frame and its words at once.
  5. 5Sully: Team plans and up draft them straight from the record.
  6. 6Microsoft Copilot: Excellent at the report once the findings are typed.
  7. 7Sully: Any walk or project on Solo; the whole workspace on Team and up.
  8. 8Microsoft Copilot: Across documents, not videos.
  9. 9Microsoft Copilot: It is Word, Outlook and Teams.
  10. 10Microsoft Copilot: Files in your tenant, not a walk record.
  11. 11Sully: Firm plans.
  12. 12Microsoft Copilot: Video isn’t indexed.
  13. 13Sully: Drafted lines stay marked until a person verifies them.
  14. 14Microsoft Copilot: Track changes, but nothing marks drafted against verified.
  15. 15Microsoft Copilot: Microsoft: prompts, responses and Graph data “aren’t used to train foundation LLMs.”

Sully vs Microsoft Copilot: which is right for you?

Sully is built for people who visit sites they don’t own (surveyors, architects, fire-safety practitioners, inspectors, trades) and owe a client a write-up afterwards.

Copilot is built for everyone in a Microsoft 365 tenant, for documents, mail and meetings, and it is good at the report once the facts are in it.

Choose Copilot if your site work is a few photos and typed findings, the report is already a Word job, and your IT team won’t add a tool this year.

Choose Sully if the evidence is a walkthrough video Copilot can’t index, you want to ask across every walk on a project, and you want a cited draft that still lands in Teams and OneDrive. Most firms run both.

FAQs

Can Microsoft Copilot summarise a site walkthrough video?

One at a time, from its transcript. Copilot in the Clipchamp player summarises the Teams recording or Clipchamp video you have open. It doesn’t reason over the footage, and can’t answer across several videos.

Does Copilot index videos stored in SharePoint?

Not as of Microsoft’s documentation reviewed 23 April 2026: the index is “generated from text-based SharePoint Online files,” with no video or audio type listed. Microsoft says more types will follow; we re-check and will update this page.

Does Sully work with Microsoft 365?

Yes, by design: Microsoft sign-in (Entra ID), delivery into Teams, Outlook and OneDrive, and tenant auto-join on Firm plans. Hosted in Australia; every walk workspace-isolated.
